Every year the Pendleton County Sheriff's Office takes less fortunate youth from Pendleton County to the Kentucky Sheriff's Associations Boys and Girls Ranch in Gilbertsville, Kentucky.  We also take children shopping at Christmas time with our "Shop with a Cop" program.

In order for the Sheriff's Ranch to continue operation and for us to take the children shopping we have two fund raisers each year.  We sponsor a two horse show's to raise money for the ranch and for the "Shop with a Cop".

If you would like to make a donation to the Pendleton County Shop with a Cop program or the Kentucky Sheriff's Ranch please send a check or money to the Sheriff's Office designating where you would like your donation to go.

Show dates for 2008 are:  May 4th (rained out) and June 29th, September 19 (Friday),  at the Pendleton County Fairgrounds.  Sanctioned by IBRA.

Community Corrections

The 18th Judicial Circuit which is made up from Pendleton, Harrison, Nicholas, and Robertson Counties have been involved with the Kentucky State Corrections Commission to reduce costs of incarceration to the counties, monitor community service, collect child support and restitution since 1999.  The community corrections program deals with individuals which are convicted of one or more felonies but are still eligible for probation or suspended sentences under the law.  Our program over the last seven years has had a 57% success rate with a savings of $ 235,828.52 to the Commonwealth and communities, operating on an annual budget of less than $ 33,000.00.  If you have any questions about the Community Corrections program please contact Annette at 859-234-2952.

CSI Camp

In June 2008, 30 Pendleton County Elementary and Middle School students participated in a Crime Scene Investigations class which was put together by Mrs. Michelle Lustenburg and Mrs. Dorothy Dennie, Gifted and Talented teachers of the Pendleton County School System, through a grant from Northern Kentucky University.  During the week long course the students were exposed to many aspects of crime scene investigation such as:  fingerprinting, photography, DNA, castings, blood splatter, ballistics, evidence collection, facial recognition, crime scene diagramming, and latent print taking.  Along with their teachers the students received instruction from Craig Peoples, Pendleton County Sheriff and two instructors, from the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond, Joe Wallace and Larry Sennet, who provided their knowledge and props for the crime scenes.  At week's end the students had to take everything that they learned and physically process "mock" crime scenes which ranged from shooting's, someone falling from a roof, and bones buried in the woods.  Below are a few pictures of camp activities.
