Overview

The personel of the Pendleton County Sheriff's Office take pride in serving the citizens of Falmouth, Butler, and Pendleton County.  Below you will receive a brief biography on each person and they will tell you why they think its important to serve the people of Pendleton County.

Chief Deputy Paul Vater Chief Deputy Paul Vater was a part-time member of the department and became full time in 1998.  Paul also worked for the Falmouth Police Department in 1981.  Paul served in the Army Reserves 478th Engineers Unit out of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.  Paul oversees court duties and scheduling of officers.  Other than court which takes up alot of time Paul also makes sure that all Civil and Criminal Process is served for court purposes.  Paul is married to his wife April and has two daughters Kyla and Sadie.  If you have not seen Paul in court or knocking or your door you have likely seen him at Phillip Sharp Middle School in the mornings running radar.

"Pendleton County has always been home to me and I have always worked within the county except for the time I was away in the Army.  I care about the people of Pendleton County and I enjoy serving the people of the County.  I am proud to be part of the Pendleton County Sheriff's Department and feel that we have a well trained department that is very capable of serving the public."

Sergeant Todd Dennie Sergeant Todd Dennie has been on the Sheriff's Department since 1997 when he came on as part-time during the "Great Flood of 1997".  In 1998 Todd was hired full time under a grant through the "Cops in Schools" initative and became the Counties and the Pendleton County School Districts first School Resource Officer.  In 2004 the department acquired it's first canine a Belgian Malinous named "Zillion" with Todd being his handler.  Todd is also a life long resident of Pendleton County and graduated from Pendleton County High School in 1994 and is married to his wife Dorothy and has two step children Katie and Robbie.

Deputy Louie C Jones Jr Chip Jones joined the Sheriff's Department in 2000 after the county closed the jail he was hired as a road deputy and tranportation officer.  Before joining the Sheriff's Department Chip was an officer at the Falmouth Police Department for several years.  Chip has two children Holly and Chip.

"I have always wanted to be a police officer and my goal was to be a Pendleton County Deputy Sheriff.  I love to help people and talking to them."

Deputy Jeff Rice Deputy Jeff Rice joined the Sheriff's Department in 1996 he is a 1994 graduate of the Department of Criminal Justice Training and was formerly the Butler Police Chief.  He is engaged to Tina Schneider and they have four children.  He works full time for Olympic Contracting Inc., in Alexandria.

Deputy Eddie Quinn Deputy Eddie Quinn has been a member of the department since 2005.  Eddie is a 1995 graduate of Pendleton County High School.  He started his career in law enforcement in 2000 when he graduated from the George Stone Criminal Justice Training Center in Pensacola, Florida.  Eddie moved back to Pendleton County in 2003.

"I want to work for the Pendleton County Sheriff's Office to give back to the citizens of Pendleton County that contributed to my youth having grown up in Pendleton County.  I would also like to be part of making Pendleton County a safer place for many generations to make it home, as I did."

Deputy Jared Brewer Jared is a 1998 graduate of Pendleton County High School and is the son of Gary and Connie Brewer of Falmouth and has nine brothers and sisters.  Jared served in Iraq with the Kentucky National Guard in 2005 as a military policeman.  Deputy Jared Brewer joined the department on March 1, 2007.  Jared will be taking Basic Training at Richmond starting in May for 18 weeks to become a certified deputy sheriff. 

"I've always wanted to be an officer.  Working for the Sheriff makes being an officer better because we work the entire county.  We're able to help and serve more people.  This is important because we get to establish a relationship with the county and not just a small part of it."

Bailiff Joe Blackaby Bailiff Joe Blackaby joined the Sheriff's department in January 2007 also as a part time bailiff.  Joe has served as a Falmouth Police Officer and Cynthiana Police Officer for 31 years and as a Pendleton County Tranportation Officer and attended 2000 hours of police training through the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.  Joe served eight years as a United States Marine and four years as a military police officer.  Joe is married to his wife Jane Mains for 43 years and they live in Falmouth.

second picture of Bertie Bertie Sandy is our office manager, she joined the Sheriff's department after the retirement of Helen Mays in May 2005.  Bertie is a graduate of Falmouth High School and has two sons Brad and Brian and grandchildren.  You may have seen Bertie in the past working for "Doug's" TV, for the Pendleton County Court Clerk Carol Jean Ockerman, or at the offices of Community Based Services and she has even worked for Northern Kentucky University.
